Project Description
FOUR PILLARS OF FAMILY LITERACY
ADULT
EDUCATION
The Adult Education component provides parents the opportunity to focus on growing their own skills and knowledge to not only be a better parent but to be a happy, healthy, productive member of society. We know when we improve the education of the parents we positively improve the education of the children (Egalite, 2019). Yet, many programs working to improve children’s success in school ignore the parents’ role. A strong AE program builds the adult learners’ literacy and language skills while teaching the students how to foster these skills in their children. Parents need to have a strong foundation in literacy and language to support their children’s development.
